Reflections on Running: A Conversation with Former Mayor Pete Buttigieg

Buttigieg made history when he became the first openly gay Democratic candidate for president, launching his campaign for the nomination in April 2019. After winning the Iowa caucuses and the support of millions across the country, Buttigieg ended his presidential campaign and endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden in March 2020.
In a conversation moderated by GU Politics’ Executive Director Mo Elleithee, Buttigieg will discuss what motivated his race for the presidency, what he learned about the American people during the campaign process, and how those lessons could apply to the current COVID-19 crisis the country is currently facing.
