This week we have three upcoming events that we are excited about.
On Monday, at 8 PM in Reiss 281, the GUCD LGBTQ advocacy team hopes that you will join them to come watch "Milk" by Gus Van Sant. We hope that the movie about Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected official (and the delicious food we will provide) will facilitate a meaningful discussion of how far the LGBTQ movement has come, how far we have to go, and how we can achieve our goals. You can find the Facebook page here.
On Tuesday, at 8 PM in ICC 223A we will be co-sponsoring with GUCR, GOLD, and the SSA for a discussion about religion about religion in politics, especially in light of the upcoming Presidential election. For those who will have attended the interfaith panel on religion in the 2016 election, this will be a great chance to discuss thoughts and ideas. The Facebook is here.
On Wednesday, at 8 PM in WGR 311, we have invited J Street VP Alan Elsner to come speak. Elsner worked for 32 years as a journalist, covering events including the Rwandan Genocide and 9/11 attacks. He joined J Street as VP for Communication in 2012, where he has been instrumental in advocating in support of a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine and the recent P5+1 nuclear agreement with Iran. Elsner will be discussing his extensive experience with journalism as well as his thoughts on the tensions in the West Bank. He will also take questions to engage in a productive discussion.
